Louis Edmond Durey ( French: [dyʁɛ]; 27 May 1888 – 3 July 1979) [1] was a French composer. He was among the Les Six group of composers. Life. Louis Durey was born in Paris, the son of a local businessman. It was not until he was nineteen years old that he chose to pursue a musical career after hearing a performance of a Claude Debussy work.
Wie so viele Künstlergruppen spaltete sich auch die “Groupe des Six” wieder auf, kaum dass sie begonnen hatte zu existieren. Als Jean Cocteau ein Gemeinschaftswerk der Sechs mit dem Titel Les mariés de la tour Eiffel plante, sagte auch der Älteste der Gruppe, Louis Durey, seine Mitarbeit zu.
Das Œuvre von Louis Durey mit insgesamt 116 katalogisierten Werken umfasst sämtliche Musikgattungen mit Ausnahme des Balletts. Durey befasste sich nur wenig mit der Bühne und dem Sinfonieorchester, dafür schrieb er Musik für mehrere Dokumentarfilme und arbeitete an verschiedenen Musikprojekten mit.

16. Okt. 2016 · Music of Lous Durey this weekend. His Concertino for Piano and Wind ensemble as performed in what is no doubt the World premier recording, featuring pianist/composer Ina Marika (to whom Durey dedicated the piece) and members of the Paris Municipal band conducted by Désiré Dondeyne.
