Since then, I have tried to uphold the trust vested in me throughout all of my political mandates. I first served as mayor of the City of Luxembourg from 1982 to 1999.

(CS) The Luxembourg City council on Monday evening confirmed DP politician Lydie Polfer as the capital's new mayor, replacing now-Premier Xavier Bettel. The post will be familiar territory for Polfer, who served as Luxembourg City mayor from 1982 to 1999, succeeding her father, Camille Polfer, who had served as mayor for two years before quitting the post for health reasons.

Lydie Polfer will remain Luxembourg City’s mayor for another six years as expected, extending her reign in charge of the capital into its third decade, after Polfer's party struck a coalition agreement on Thursday.
