Magnus Gustaf "Gösta" Mittag-Leffler (16 March 1846 – 7 July 1927) was a Swedish mathematician. His mathematical contributions are connected chiefly with the theory of functions, which today is called complex analysis. He founded the most important mathematical periodical Acta Mathematica and was its editor for 40 years.

1. Juli 2019 · Das Gerücht hält sich bis heute: Es sei die Schuld von Magnus Gösta Mittag-Leffler gewesen, dass der schwedische Großindustrielle Alfred Nobel bei seiner Stiftung keinen Preis für die Mathematik vorgesehen habe (wohl aber für Physik, Chemie, Medizin, Literatur und für den Frieden).

His father, John Olof Leffler, was a school teacher, and was also elected as a member of the Swedish Parliament. His mother, Gustava Vilhelmina Mittag, was a daughter of a pastor, who was a person of great scientific abilities.
