Marcus Cliffe (born 1962 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England) is an English professional musician. Career. In 1990, Marcus joined The Notting Hillbillies, a country rock project created by Mark Knopfler and Guy Fletcher of Dire Straits. They only recorded one album "Missing...Presumed Having a Good Time".
This years sees the release of Marcus’s first solo album ‘Heard’ an album of Blues, soul and jazz influenced tunes showcasing Marcus’ talents as a guitar player and composer fronting an amazing band of world class players.
26. Nov. 2023 · With drummer Pete Riley, Marcus Cliffe (bass), and Simon Currie (saxophone & flute) as the other members on this current Maximum Rhythm ‘n’ Blues tour, these guys clearly still enjoy touring and performing. “Who says this is our farewell tour”? Paul told me before the show.
Ed Bicknell and Marcus Cliffe were also present. This was the last time that Clark played with Knopfler within a full band. In 1993, two shows were performed, both without Guy Fletcher. Band member Brendan Croker died due to complications from leukaemia on 10 September 2023, at the age of 70.
