In 1929, Canadian anthropologist Marius Barbeau took the pole from the Nisg̱a’a village of Ank’idaa and shipped it to the National Museum of Scotland. Museum records indicate that Barbeau was commissioned by the institution to purchase the pole for $600.

6. Mai 2024 · Barbeau (1950) The Eagle-Halibut pole of Laay' was first raised in the 1870s, as told above, at the Nis g a'a village of Gwinwo k, on the Nass River. During a severe flood around 1900, the pole was washed downriver. Eventually it was re-erected at Gitiks.
