Alfred George Deller, CBE (31 May 1912 – 16 July 1979), was an English singer and one of the main figures in popularising the return of the countertenor voice in Renaissance and Baroque music during the 20th century.

STOUR MUSIC. A History of the Festival. by Mark Deller, Festival Director 1975 – 2019. Stour Music was founded in 1962 by my father, the counter-tenor Alfred Deller, principally as a festival devoted to early music, but in the initial years it also included exhibitions of paintings, organised by the distinguished painter John Ward.
In 2020 Stour Music appointed Robert Hollingworth as its new Artistic Director, following the retirement of Mark Deller after 45 years. Robert, who is also a radio / film presenter, educator and founder of the innovative vocal ensemble I Fagiolini (in part inspired by Mark’s group, the Deller Consort), first came to Stour in 1992, and the festival has been a regular pilgrimage of his ever since.

9. Juni 2022 · Mark Deller setzt bis heute die Arbeit seines Vaters fort. Zahlreiche Schallplatten dokumentieren die hervorragende Technik und den Wohlklang der Stimme Dellers. Noch bedeutender aber muss man den Anstoß werten, den er für die Wiedergewinnung dieser sehr speziellen Gesangstechnik gab.
