Spectropop remembers. MARSHALL LEIB (1939 -2002) Teddy Bear and Hollywood Argyles turned producer. A hotrod fanatic, he was on his way to the Flames Cruise Night in Northridge, California when he suffered a massive heart attack. Paramedics were swift on the scene but were unable to save him.
With three friends from high school — Marshall Lieb, Harvey Goldstein, and singer Annette Kleinbard — Spector formed a group named The Teddy Bears, a name derived from an Elvis Presley song.
Leib had some experience in the music business, having formed the Moondogs with classmates in 1958. Marshall put in the second ten dollars.
