In Full Bloom. Sophisticated Soul. The Marvelettes Recorded Live on Stage. The Marvelettes Biography. Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, Juanita Cowart, and Georgia Dobbins were the initial The Marvelettes members, an all-girl ensemble. In 1959, they met in a high school glee group in Inkster, Michigan, where they both grew up.
Born into the girl-group era of the early 1960s, the vivacious Marvelettes are forever famous for delivering (“de sooner, de better”) Motown’s first No. 1 record on the pop charts, “Please Mr. Postman.”
