Maurice White war ein US-amerikanischer Schlagzeuger und Sänger, der 1969 die Band „Earth, Wind and Fire“ (u. a. „Shining Star“ 1975, „September“ 1978, „Boogie Wonderland“ 1979) gründete, zahlreiche ihrer Songs schrieb und in seiner musikalischen Laufbahn mit sieben Grammys ausgezeichnet wurde.

During this hiatus, Maurice recorded his self-titled solo album Maurice White and produced various artists including Neal Diamond, Barbra Streisand and Jennifer Holliday. Reuniting with the band in 1987, EWF released the album Touch The World and scored yet another number one R&B single, “System of Survival” and embarked on a corresponding nine-month world tour.
