Michael John Prendergast MBE (born 3 March 1941), known professionally as Mike Pender, is an English singer and guitarist. He was an original founding member of Merseybeat group the Searchers.
The Searchers wurden 1960 in Liverpool gegründet. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung bestand aus John McNally, Mike Pender (bürgerlich: Michael John Prendergast), Tony Jackson und Norman McGarry. Letzterer wurde allerdings kurz darauf durch Chris Curtis ersetzt.

Founded as a skiffle group in Liverpool in 1959 by John McNally and Mike Pender, the band took their name from the 1956 John Ford western film The Searchers. The band grew out of an earlier skiffle group formed by McNally in 1957, with his friends Brian Dolan (guitar) and Tony West (bass).
Mike Pender, one of the band’s founder members and lead singer in this period has finally told his story through his autobiography ‘Origins of the Searchers and The Search for Myself’. Mike tells Jason Barnard about his musical journey and new book that for the first time uncovers what really happened all those years ago.
