Murray Edwards College is a women-only constituent college of the University of Cambridge. It was founded in 1954 as New Hall and renamed in 2008. The name honours a gift of £30 million by alumna Ros Edwards and her husband Steve, and the first President and woman Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge , Rosemary Murray .

Murray Edwards was founded over 60 years as the third Cambridge College to provide education for outstanding women.
We were founded nearly 70 years ago and exist proudly as a College for women with a radical mission of educating ambitious and brilliant young women. But many of our Fellows are men and we welcome people of all genders to visit and stay with us and socialise in our great café and bar.
