Nancy obtained a first class degree in Physiology in 1976, a PhD in 1978 and a DSc in 1987 from the University of London. Her early research identified mechanisms of energy balance regulation, obesity and cachexia.
Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, FRS, is President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Manchester. She joined the Victoria University of Manchester in 1987, became Professor of Physiology in 1994 and held an MRC Research Chair from 1998 to 2010.
Dame Nancy Rothwell (Queen Elizabeth College, Physiology, 1976; PhD Physiology, 1979) is a highly distinguished neuroscientist. Nancy is a double of alumna of Queen Elizabeth College (which merged with King’s College London in 1985), having studied for both her undergraduate and PhD here.
