I’m on the younger side (b. 1978) and this is embarrassing to admit, but I first learned of Patrice Rushen when George Michael sampled her on his song Fast Love. My friend (b. 1969) was jamming the fuck out to the track and said, “That’s Patrice Rushen’s Forget Me Nots.” I listened to the original and was an instant fan.
