In New York City, James worked as an arranger and was hired as piano accompanist for jazz singer Sarah Vaughan. He reunited with Quincy Jones when Jones asked him to do some arranging for studio sessions. [1]

Robert McElhiney James ist ein US-amerikanischer Pianist, Keyboarder und Arrangeur. Er wurde zweimal mit dem Grammy Award ausgezeichnet und war Anfang der 1970er Jahre ein Vertreter der Fusion-Musik, später auch des Smooth Jazz.
