April 2017 : Rae Langton has been elected to be the Knightbridge Professor of Philosophy, with effect from 1 August 2017. The Knightbridge chair was founded in 1683 by John Knightbridge, Fellow of Peterhouse. It has been held by many eminent Cambridge philosophers, including Henry Sidgwick, who founded Newnham College in 1871.

Newnham College Library is one of the best-stocked undergraduate college libraries in Cambridge, with a collection of 100,000 volumes––including about 6,000 rare books. Divided into two sections, this depository consists of Champneys original Victorian Yates Thompson library and its award-winning, ultra-modern Horner Markwick extension.
