Nischapur oder Neyschabur (persisch شهرستان نیشابور) ist ein Verwaltungsbezirk (Schahrestan) in Razavi-Chorasan, Iran. Die Hauptstadt ist Nischapur, bei der Volkszählung 2011 gab es 433.104 Einwohner, die sich auf 118.214 Familien verteilten.
17. Sept. 2010 · Nishapur (Nišāpur) was, with Balḵ, Marv and Herat, one of the four great cities of the province of Khorasan. It flourished in Sasanid and early Islamic times, but after the devastations of the Mongol invasions of the 13th century, subsided into a more modest role until it revived in the 20th century.
11. Nov. 2018 · Nishapur, located in North East Iran today, was one of the greatest cities of Eastern Khurasan. The other significant cities were Herat, Balkh and Merv. The first two are located in present day Afghanistan and the third in Turkmenistan. Nishapur was strategically located on the Silk Road and connected Asia Minor and Mesopotamia to India and China.
