12. Okt. 2020 · Nottingham ist auf einem Sandsteinrücken gebaut, sodass der Boden unter der Stadt extrem leicht zu graben und auszuheben ist. Das veranlasste die Menschen im 13. und 14. Jahrhunderts dazu, kunstvolle Höhlen direkt unter den Füßen der Stadtvölker zu graben. Dies geschah bis in die Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts, als einige der ärmsten Gemeinden Nottinghams noch unter der Erde lebten.
Der Scheriff von Nottingham wird in der Legende als Erzfeind des Bogenschützens gezeichnet.
