Bernard Edwards (October 31, 1952 – April 18, 1996) was an American bass player and record producer, known primarily for his work in disco music with guitarist Nile Rodgers, with whom he co-founded Chic. In 2017, Edwards was selected as the 53rd greatest bassist of all time by Bass Player magazine. [1]
Some of Bernard’s work outside of Chic includes Diana Ross’ hit songs “I’m Coming Out” and “Upside Down”, Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family” and “He’s the Greatest Dancer”. Edwards also produced and played on songs for Robert Palmer, Rod Stewart, Debbie Harry (of Blondie), Joe Cocker, and Jody Watley to name a few.
