  2. Peekskill Military Academy. The Peekskill Academy opened its doors in 1837 to 47 students, both boys and girls. In 1841 the Academy decided to admit only boys. By 1857 the Academy had become the Peekskill Military Academy. After a long and illustrious history PMA closed its doors in 1968, citing a decline in enrollment and lack of endowment.

  4. Peekskill Military Academy was a military academy for young men and women, founded in 1833 as Peekskill Academy, located in Peekskill, New York, United States. The academy was built by a hanging tree where a British spy was executed in 1777; his bones were discovered and relocated during construction of a dormitory in the 1860s.

  7. New York Military Academy (NYMA) is a college preparatory, co-ed boarding school in the suburban town of Cornwall, 60 miles (97 km) north of New York City, and one of the oldest military schools in the United States. Originally a boys' school, it started admitting girls in 1975.
