8. Juni 2022 · With Bobby Schayer taking over from Pete Finestone behind the traps, the Bad Religion sound evolved and matured noticeably further from Against The Grain: the late '80s two-minute blasts ow nbecame songs around the three minute mark.
Recruiting Pete Finestone and bassist Tim Gallegos, the band issued a 12" EP, called "Back To The Known", with Gurewitz producing but not playing on the record. Against the Grain ist das letzte Album mit Pete Finestone am Schlagzeug, da sich dieser mehr auf sein Bandprojekt The Fisherman konzentrieren wollte und somit kurz vor dem nächsten Album Generator von Bobby Schayer ersetzt wurde.
Es ist das bisher erfolgloseste Album der Band und gilt auf Grund der von Konflikten geprägten Aufnahmesessions, während denen der Schlagzeuger Pete Finestone und der Bassist Jay Bentley die Band verließen, als ausschlaggebend für die vorläufige Trennung der Band zwei Jahre später.
