Peter John Joseph Murphy (born 11 July 1957) is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. He is the vocalist for the post-punk goth rock band Bauhaus. After Bauhaus disbanded, Murphy formed Dali's Car with Japan's bassist Mick Karn and released one album, The Waking Hour (1984).

Gegründet wurde die Band 1978 im englischen Northampton von den vier Kunststudenten Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, David J und Kevin Haskins. Namensgeber war die 1919 von Walter Gropius in Weimar gegründete Kunst- und Designschule Bauhaus (ursprünglich nannte sich die Gruppe „Bauhaus 1919“). [2] .
