Philip Oakey (born 2 October 1955) is an English singer, songwriter and record producer. He is the lead singer, songwriter, and co-founder of the synth-pop band the Human League. Aside from the Human League, Oakey has enjoyed an extensive solo music career and has collaborated with numerous other artists and producers.

Als Sänger kam nun Phil Oakey hinzu, ein früherer Klassenkamerad von Martyn Ware, und die Band nannte sich ab Oktober 1977 nach einem Begriff aus dem Brettspiel StarForce „The Human League“. Zur Unterstützung ihrer Live-Show mit visuellen Effekten wurde der Kunststudent Philip Adrian Wright als viertes Bandmitglied aufgenommen.
The only constant band member since 1977 has been lead singer and songwriter Philip Oakey. Keyboard players Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh both left the band in 1980 to form Heaven 17 , leaving Oakey and Adrian Wright to assemble a new line-up.
