Picenum. Als Picenum wurde in der Antike eine Landschaft in Mittelitalien bezeichnet. Sie lag in den heute südlichen Marken, entlang des Adriatischen Meeres und war vom Land der Sabiner durch die Apenninen getrennt, deren östliche Ausläufer das Picenum durchzogen.
Bedeutende picenische Nekropolen sind für das nördliche Picenum Novilara, Ancona, Camerano, Sirolo-Numana, Recanati, Pianello di Castelbellino, für das mittlere Picenum Matelica (Macerata), Tolentino, San Severino, Fabriano und für das südliche Picenum Belmonte Piceno, Grottazzolina, Cupramarittima-Grottammare, Montegiorgio und Ripatransone.
