Pierre Reverdy was a French poet who influenced by cubism and surrealism. He wrote about the sublime simplicity of true reality and the spiritual apprehension of his time. He published his first small volume of poetry, Poems en prose, in 1915 and became known for his mystical and visual acuity. He also founded the monthly literary review Nord-Sud in 1917.
