Pierre-Louis Guinand war ein Optiker aus dem heutigen Schweizer Kanton Neuenburg (Neuchâtel). Im Auftrag Joseph Utzschneiders (1763–1840) richtete er 1805 im säkularisierten Kloster Benediktbeuern die weltweit erste Hütte zur Herstellung von optischem Glas ein, was später Joseph Fraunhofer (1787–1826) die Entwicklung seines Genies als Wissenschaftler ermöglichte.
