For many years Frisch was the only Norwegian economist of international renown and became a father figure for Norwegian economics. Frisch was awarded (jointly with Jan Tinbergen) the first Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 1969. Ragnar Frisch died in 1973.

1. Jan. 2018 · Frisch was head of the (newly established) Institute of Economics in Oslo from 1932 to his retirement in 1965. He was also chief editor of Econometrica (1933–55), followed by his chairmanship of the editorial board. He was one of the founders (1930) and, in fact, the driving force behind the creation of the Econometric Society.
