Geschichte. Der Brite Rik Kenton, der zuvor bei der britischen Rockband Roxy Music Bass spielte, suchte sich ab Anfang 1982 für seine neue Band, die er „Savage Progress“ nannte, weitere Mitglieder. Die in Zimbabwe geborene Sängerin Glynnis Thomas gab für Savage Progress die erfolglose Reggae Band mit ihrer Schwester auf.

Rik Kenton. Profile: British musician who is largely known as a bassist, but is also a guitarist, keyboard player, programmer of Linn drums, producer, and songwriter. After the disbanding of Woody Kern, he had a stint in Roxy Music.
Rik Kenton left the band in January 1973 and was replaced by John Porter. Roxy Music's second album, For Your Pleasure, was released in March 1973. It marked the beginning of the band's long, successful collaboration with producer Chris Thomas, who worked on all of the group's classic albums and singles in the 1970s.

The band was founded by Rik Kenton (b. 31 October 1945, in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England) Glynnis (voc) Ned Morant (perc.) Carol Isaacs (keyboards/background vocals) and Andrew Edge (drums). They were a mixed-race group of musicians who used traditional pop styles as well as reggae, Caribbean dance rhythms and African rhythms .

Rik Kenton hatte für die Aufnahmen zu dieser Single bereits Graham Simpson am Bass abgelöst, doch blieb dies auch seine einzige Veröffentlichung mit Roxy Music. Sein Nachfolger John Porter arbeitete mit der Band auf den folgenden Tonträgern, der Single Pyjamarama sowie dem Album For Your Pleasure .

My Soul Unwraps Tonight wurde von Savage-Progress-Mitglied Rik Kenton geschrieben beziehungsweise komponiert. Für die Produktion zeichneten Danny Hyde und Paul Wickens verantwortlich. [1] Das Lied ist im 4 ⁄ 4 -Takt gehalten, hat ein Tempo von 99 Schlägen pro Minute und wurde in der Tonart es-Moll eingespielt.
Der Brite Rik Kenton suchte sich Anfang ab 1982 eine bunte Truppe für seine neue Band Savage Progress. Bei Roxy Music - so ehrlich muss man sein - war er nach einer sehr kurzen Mitgliedschaft aus der Band geflogen.
