In 1932, Shaw joined the Roger Wolfe Kahn Orchestra and made several recordings with the outfit including "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" and "Fit as a Fiddle". Leader of bands. In 1935, he first gained attention with his "Interlude in B-flat" at a swing concert at the Imperial Theater in New York.
