Stockert, Ron. He is a keyboardist, singer-songwriter and arranger who started in the music business in Decatur, Illinois in the 1960s when he and Steve Hunter were the main performers in the group The Light Brigade.
Among the outstanding musicians that have contributed to the band’s history are Ron Stockert, Dennis Belfield, Al Ciner and Andre’ Fischer from the early years to Bobby Watson, Nate Morgan, Richard “Moon” Calhoun, John “JR” Robinson and David “Hawk” Wolinski.
Rufus is the debut album by American R&B and funk band Rufus, released on the ABC Records label in 1973 fronted by singers Chaka Khan and Ron Stockert. The album is notable for an upbeat rock/soul sound that would be replaced by a more heavy direction into funk and jazzy-styled recordings.
Willie Weeks was in turn replaced by Dennis Belfield, James Stella by keyboardist/vocalist Ron Stockert and Lee Graziano by Andre Fischer. Paulette McWilliams and Chaka Khan had met and become the best of friends through their spouses Howard Towles and Hassan Khan.
