16. Mai 2024 · Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald was born in Boston's North End on July 22, 1890. Rose was the eldest daughter of John F. and Mary Josephine Hannon Fitzgerald. Unlike many young women of her time, Rose would have the unique opportunity to grow up in a fiercely political family and participate in politics with her father, John "Honey Fitz" Fitzgerald.
But after Rose Fitzgerald's debut in society and Kennedy's graduation, the courtship became more firmly established. The couple was married on October 7, 1914 and after a two-week honeymoon, they settled in the Boston suburb of Brookline. Their first son, Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., was born on July 25, 1915, while Rose Kennedy was staying at a summer cottage in Hull, Massachusetts.
