Formed in 1971 by producer and former music journalist Uwe Nettelbeck, the group was originally composed of Werner "Zappi" Diermaier (b.1949), Hans Joachim Irmler (b.1950), [5] Arnulf Meifert, Jean-Hervé Péron (b.1949), [6] Rudolf Sosna (1946 – 1996) and Gunther Wüsthoff, working with engineer Kurt Graupner. Rudolf Sosna starb November 1996. Während der nächsten 15 Jahre blieb es still um die ehemaligen Bandmitglieder; es erschienen aber mehrere Veröffentlichungen mit Aufnahmen aus der Anfangszeit in Wümme sowie Ausschnitte aus dem fünften Album durch Chris Cutlers Recommended Records . Three of the members, Jean-Hervé Peron, Rudolf Sosna and Gunther Wüsthoff had previously played in Nukleus, while Arnulf Meifert, Joachim Irmler and Werner ‘Zappi’ Diermaier were with Campylognatus Citelli. The original drummer, Arnulf Meifert left after the first album.
