Rumer (* 3. Juni 1979 in Islamabad, Pakistan; eigentlich Sarah Joyce) ist eine britische Singer-Songwriterin. Ihr Vater, mit dem ihre Mutter eine außereheliche Affäre hatte, war Pakistaner. Die Wahl ihres Künstlernamens war inspiriert durch die britische Autorin Rumer Godden, die lange in Indien lebte.
Sarah Joyce (born 3 June 1979), better known by her stage name, Rumer, is a Pakistan-born British singer-songwriter. Supported by leading music industry figures including Burt Bacharach, Elton John, Carly Simon, and Jools Holland, Rumer was nominated for two Brit awards on 13 January 2011.
Rumer had most certainly experienced dramatic life changes since her 2010 debut album, Seasons of My Soul, was certified platinum in the UK and Ireland and earned her a MOJO Award for Best Breakthrough Act. Life changes notwithstanding, the singer’s deep-seated desire for music discovery has been a constant throughout her career and it eventually led her to Nashville on a search for hidden gems.
