Herb Jeffries (born Umberto Alexander Valentino; September 24, 1913 – May 25, 2014) was an American actor of film and television and popular music and jazz singer-songwriter, known for his baritone voice.
Herb Jeffries (* 24. September 1913 in Detroit als Umberto Alexander Valentino; † 25. Mai 2014 in Los Angeles) war ein US-amerikanischer Jazz-Musiker und Schauspieler. Mitte der 1930er Jahre ging er als erster und bislang einziger afroamerikanischer Singender Cowboy mit einer Serie musikalischer Western in die Geschichte ein.
In 1995, Murphey further demonstrated his musical ambitions with the concept album Sagebrush Symphony, recorded live with the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, Herb Jeffries, and the Sons of the San Joaquin. In 1997, he released the album The Horse Legends, a musical tribute to this majestic animal.
