Saina Nehwal (pronunciation ⓘ; born 17 March 1990) is an Indian professional badminton player. A former world no. 1, she has won 24 international titles, which includes ten Superseries titles.
Karriere. 2003 gewann Saina Nehwal den Juniorentitel im Damendoppel mit Aparna Balan in Indien. 2007 siegte sie bei den Philippine Open im Dameneinzel, worauf sie sich mittlerweile spezialisiert hat. 2008 war sie bei den Chinese Taipei Open und den indischen nationalen Meisterschaften erfolgreich und wurde Fünfte bei Olympia.
Biography. Saina Nehwal is the first-ever badminton player from India to clinch an Olympic medal. The Indian shuttler created history when she won the bronze medal at the London 2012 Games. The Haryana shuttler started turning heads very early on in her career when she won the BWF World Junior Championships in 2008.
Saina Nehwal became the first Indian badminton player to win an Olympic medal, the first Indian to reach BWF World Championships final, the first Indian to win a Super Series title and also the first Indian to win two women singles gold medals (2010 and 2018) at the Commonwealth Games.
