About Skip Battin. Country-rock journeyman bass player Clyde "Skip" Battin was part of the duo Skip & Flip that scored three chart entries in 1959-1960, including "It Was I" and "Cherry Pie," both of which reached number 11. He formed the Evergreen Blueshoes in the mid-'60s and was a member of the Byrds from 1969 to 1972, playing bass and singing.

Skip Battin est un musicien américain né le 18 février 1934 à Gallipolis, dans l'Ohio, et mort le 6 juillet 2003 à Silverton, dans l'Oregon. Il a notamment été bassiste et chanteur au sein des Byrds , des New Riders of the Purple Sage et des Flying Burrito Brothers .
He was replaced, at the suggestion of Parsons and White, by Skip Battin, a freelance session musician and one-time member of the duo Skip & Flip. Battin's recruitment marked the last personnel change to the group for almost three years and as a result, the McGuinn-White-Parsons-Battin line-up became the most stable and longest-lived of any configuration of the Byrds.
