Son Volt is an American rock band formed in 1994 by Jay Farrar after the breakup of Uncle Tupelo. The band's current line-up consists of Farrar (vocals, guitar), Andrew DuPlantis (bass guitar), John Horton (guitar), Mark Patterson (drums), and Mark Spencer (keyboard, steel guitar).
Son Volt ist eine Independentband, die 1994 von Jay Farrar in New Orleans, Louisiana nach der Auflösung der Band Uncle Tupelo gegründet wurde. Sie wird dem Genre Alternative Country zugeordnet. Ihr Album Trace wurde vom englischsprachigen Rolling Stone als eins der besten Alben des Jahres 1995 gewählt.
