  5. Years active. 1956–1961. Booker Little Jr. (April 2, 1938 – October 5, 1961) [1] was an American jazz trumpeter and composer. He appeared on many recordings in his short career, both as a sideman and as a leader. Little performed with Max Roach, John Coltrane, and Eric Dolphy and was strongly influenced by Sonny Rollins and Clifford Brown.

  6. Sounds of the Inner City is a solid hard bop date, with flourishes that harken back to straightahead bebop, and moments of free as well. Booker Little's association with Eric Dolphy shows that influence on his playing. Booker Ervin is a more bold and bluesy player and the Teddy Charles vibes lends a Milt Jackson flair to the whole proceedings.
