The Drive-By Truckers paid tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd in their album Southern Rock Opera (2001). A monument in Gillsburg, MS was constructed in honor of the deceased members near the site of the plane crash. It is located 8 miles west of I-55, off of State Highway 568. Fans and family members of the deceased attended the opening of the monument.
