Founded in 1979 by singer Richard Black and guitarist Spencer Sercombe, under the name ‘Sharks’, they independently released their album titled Alter-Ego in 1982, and it wasn’t long before the band branded the LA music scene with their own signature style through their blistering live performances.
The band was started by singer Richard Black (8), whose name then was Rick Czerny, and lead guitarist Spencer Sercombe, under the name of 'Sharks'. Czerny and Sercombe met in high school and began writing original material and began playing music together.
RICHARD BLACK and guitarist SPENCER SERCOMBE started the band as THE SHARKS in 1979. In the eighties, the band was a part of the now legendary L.A. Rock scene on Sunset Strip which included the likes of MOTLEY CRUE and CINDERELLA and just about every other hair-metal act you can think of.

2019 sees them back with an album that seriously impresses after a gap of 14 years since ‘Gathering of the Faithful’ their last record – that featured the return of Richard Black (vocals), Spencer Sercombe (guitars), Chris Heilmann (bass) and new addition Glen Sobel (drums).
