Spiro Agnew was the 39th vice president of the United States, serving from 1969 to 1973. He resigned in 1973 after being implicated in a tax fraud scandal and pleading no contest to a felony charge of tax evasion. He was a former governor of Maryland and a former Baltimore County executive who moved to the right to appease conservatives.
