STANLEY LLOYD MILLER wurde am 07.03.1930 in Oakland, Kalifornien geboren, war Biochemiker und beschäftigte sich in erster Linie mit Fragestellungen zur Thermodynamik und zur chemischen Evolution. Seit 1960 war er als Professor für Biochemie an der Universität in San Diego, Kalifornien beschäftigt. Am 20. Mai 2007 verstarb er in National City, südlich von San Diego.
