Willie Nelson spielte einen Großteil der Songs zusammen mit seiner damaligen Liveband in Brian Aherns Aufnahmestudio in Los Angeles ein. Als Gastmusiker trat Nelsons Schwester Bobbie Nelson auf, die einige der Songs aus ihrer Arbeit als Lounge -Pianistin kannte. Mickey Raphael spielte die Mundharmonika ein.

The first ingredient was spare backing from Nelson's band, a road-tested unit that included Mickey Raphael on harmonica, Jody Payne on guitar, sister Bobbie Nelson on piano, drummer Paul English (of "Me and Paul" fame), and, of course, Booker T. on organ and piano.
Michael Siegfried Raphael (born November 7, 1951) is an American harmonica player, music producer and actor best known for his work with Willie Nelson, with whom he has toured as part of The Family since 1973.

12. Dez. 2022 · Mickey Raphael’s harmonica is certainly a highlight. Yet, interestingly, I can’t help but wonder if other songs from Stardust were more worthy of a Grammy award. Of course, if I had my way, Nelson would have taken out a Grammy for the entire record. Blue Skies is one of my favourite tunes and is one of the best from the album.
12. Sept. 2014 · Nelson’s single note guitar lines and Mickey Raphael’s harmonica (oh that solo on “Georgia on My Mind”!) are the perfect accents. And while he’d written great songs (”Crazy” for starters), it wasn’t until Stardust that Willie Nelson was considered a truly great singer.
