Chronology. Stargate SG-1: Children of the Gods - Final Cut is a special-release DVD, re-releasing the Stargate SG-1 television pilot, " Children of the Gods ". The film was edited; given sharper and clearer imaging, re-scoring the music, and new and trimmed scenes, including the removal of the controversial scene showing full-frontal nudity.

A new, updated cut, which is entitled "Children of the Gods – The Final Cut" was released on DVD on July 21, 2009 by MGM Home Entertainment. The story follows retired United States Air Force Colonel Jack O'Neill (portrayed by Richard Dean Anderson ) who is recalled by General George Hammond (portrayed by Don S. Davis ) to Stargate Command after it is attacked by an alien force.
Changes. The cut starts with scene over Earth with the Richard Dean Anderson cast title, the Stargate SG-1 title and Children of the Gods title. The scene zooms down to Earth and fades into Gateroom. Weterings does not approach the ramp up to the Stargate before it opens. Apophis orders Jaffa to open fire rather than them reacting to the soliders.

Just as Goldsmith's musical arrangements of David Arnold's original motion picture soundtrack have become character entities in and of themselves over the course of 10 seasons plus 2 movies (not to mention 2 spin-off series), the music Goldsmith composed for "Children of the Gods" makes this Final Cut make more sense narratively.
