3. Apr. 2024 · Career. Gerry & The Pacemakers had their first number one hit in the UK in 1963 with “How Do You Do It?,” a song written by Mitch Murray. They followed that up with two more number one hits that year, “I Like It” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
