Tejas / ZZ Top (‘76) 以前、ZZトップの’71年の「ファースト・アルバム」を紹介させていただいたが、その記事において、’81年リリースの「エル・ロコ」までを一区切りにしているが、その期間も前期と後期に分けることができる。 「ファースト・アルバム」 (‘71)から本作までが前期であり、本作「皆殺しの挽歌〜Deguello」からが後期となる。 本作のリリース後、次作までの2年間のブランクがあるが、この期間にワーナーへ移籍している。 またビリー・ギボンスとダスティ・ヒルが長い髭面になったのもこの期間である。 これは申し合わせた訳ではなく、再会した時には二人とも同じような髭面になっていたというエピソードである。
