Houston area high schools produce a full-length musical to compete in over 15 TTA categories. Each school is adjudicated by a team of volunteer, professional Houston-based music/theatre artists. There are two tiers of competition Tier 1 for schools with lower sized budgets and Tier 2 for larger budgeted schools. Kinkaid is a Tier 2 school.

History. The Kinkaid School was founded in 1904 by Margaret Kinkaid, making it the oldest non-sectarian co-ed independent school in Houston and second oldest in the state of Texas. From its strong academics to its numerous art programs to its award-winning sports teams, Kinkaid has made a lasting impact on the Houston community.
