Rather than explore this phenomenon, this British TV drama concentrates on the whining and moaning of the MP, played by a morose Tony Britten. He does a good job, but it makes for boring viewing. The viewer also gets the dubious pleasure of seeing him strip down to his urine coloured underpants, with his ample man boobs on show.
The Nearly Man is a UK TV play and series from the mid-1970s, about a middle-class Labour MP. Both play and series were written by Arthur Hopcraft; actors in the cast of both include Tony Britton in the title role, Wilfred Pickles, Ann Firbank and Michael Elphick.
