The Poni-Tails were an American musical trio formed in Lyndhurst, Ohio. They are known for their 1958 major hit "Born Too Late". History. Formed in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, the Poni-Tails – Toni Cistone, Karen Topinka and Patti McCabe (Patricia Ann McCabe, 1939–1989) [1] – started singing at Brush High School, which they all attended. The Poni-Tails were a trio of singers from Brush High School in Cleveland, Ohio, originally formed in 1955. The group consisted first of Karin Topinka, Pat McCabe, and Toni Cistone; LaVerne Novak replaced Topinka in 1957 (reportedly when the latter’s parents objected to her pursuing a musical career).
The Poni-Tails were an all-female American pop band that was active from 1956 to 1960. They had a top 10 hit song "Born Too Late" in 1958 and other songs that failed to chart as high. They were discovered and promoted by attorney John Jewitt and music publisher Tom Illius.
