Nov. 2022 · The Bob Dylan Center® is pleased to present the local premiere of “The Renegade Legacy of Bleecker and MacDougal,” a galvanizing documentary about the New York City intersection that spawned the 1960’s protest-music scene and gave voice to socially conscious artists such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Allen Ginsburg, Maria Muldaur and Tom Paxton.
The Renegade Legacy of Bleecker and MacDougal is a look at how the ground-breaking Beat poetry and folk movements that came out of a few small cafes on Bleecker and MacDougal streets in New York City changed the politics and culture of a nation, and how a new generation is using their own original music and poetry in contemporary protest movements.
