The Rookie is a 1959 American comedy film directed by George O'Hanlon in CinemaScope. It was the first film starring the comedy team of Tommy Noonan and Peter Marshall, they also appeared together in the 1962 film Swingin' Along.

After World War II ends, the three of them get stranded on a remote island. Two Japanese sailors, unaware that the war has ended, arrive on the island.

Synopsis. Toward the end of World War II, Tommy Noonan, a page at a radio station, receives his induction notice, but very shortly thereafter, the end of the war is announced. Tommy is still eager to serve and appeals to his draft board, which then phones Camp Clyde seeking advice.
